Calvina
So, I’m reading a Stephen Coonts’ paperback entitled, “Deep black: Payback,” and what pops up?
You guessed it.
It’s a character named Calvina. She’s a member of the Peruvian underclass of Inca heritage.
The only one I know who ever pulled off what Dad joked about was Roland Burris, the man who beat me for State Comptroller. He named his daughter Rolanda.
Calvin comes from the Latin adjective for bald.
I once asked my Grandmother why she named Dad Calvin. "Was it because of Calvin Coolidge?"(Unlikely, because he was not much of a public figure in 1916.) "Was it because of John Calvin?"
“No, I just liked the name,” was her response.
