Did Melissa Bean Trip Up?
The Ft Lauderdale trip was the most expensive--$3,670. Sponsored by the Commonwealth Fund of the JFK School of Government of Harvard University, “health policy” was the topic. But it was cold in Chicago in mid-January.
New Orleans was the second most expensive excursion--$1,787. It was paid for by the Democratic Leadership Council. Do you think the magnolias have already bloomed in April?
The trip to New York cost $1,026 and was financed by the New York Stock Exchange. Think she got to take in a play after dinner?
Cheapest were the visits to the Merc, Options Exchange and Board of Trade in Chicago and the Chicago Stock Exchange—just $352. Nothing for travel, $152 for meals, but there is $200 for “other.” This is the largest “other” gift of all four trips. The category only had $11 in New Orleans, for example, and $146 in Ft. Lauderdale. One wonders why the largest gift in Chicago was for “other.”
Bean is a woman who pounded incumbent Congressman Phil Crane for taking junket after junket. Now, she has four (or three, if you don’t count Chicago) of her own.
