Where Else Do District 300 Developers Want to Raise Your Taxes? Here Are the Targets of Their Campaign Contributions
Cambridge Homes, which has been purchased by national homebuilder D.R. Horton, made lots of contributions, but most were to Republican politicians.
- $1,000 on 3/26/5 to Citizens for District 56 Schools in Gurnee
- $5,000 on 3/6/5 to Lake County Residents for Traffic Relief, seeking a sales tax hike
- $5,000 on 2/28/3 to District 300’s Citizens Organized for Responsible Education (CORE)
Isenstein/Pasquinelli L.L.C., donated to the following tax hike committees:
- $5,000 on 1/25/3 to District 300’s Citizens Organized for Responsible Education (CORE)
- $250 on 4/5/05--after the election--to Troy Pride Committee, a school district near Joliet
Kennedy Homes passed out the following campaign donations:
- $5,000 on 2/3/5 to Citizens With a Vision for District 100 in Belvidere
- $250 on 2/16/4 to Our Children: Our Investment in McHenry
- $3,000 on 2/12/4 to Our Children: Our Investment, the tax hike committee for the Troy School District near Joliet
- And here, the $1,000 given on 2/15/3 to District 300’s Citizens Organized for Responsible Education (CORE)
- $500 on 1/16/2 to Residents for Parks and Recreation for the Fox Valley Park District in Aurora
Kirk Corporation made a couple of contributions to tax hike committees, but most went to candidates:
- $1,000 on 3/16/5 to Kaneland Referendum Committee supporting District 302 referendums
- $500 on 2/12/3 to District 300’s Citizens Organized for Responsible Education (CORE)
Lakewood Homes wrote the largest checks, but a lot more to politicians than to tax hiking committees:
- $25,000 on 2/25/3 to Student Success Committee - Lakewood Homes, the tax hike committee that served as the company’s personal front group before a Minooka referendum (If a committee gives more than one-third of its contributions. Lakewood gave almost 90% of the money the tax hike committee received.)
- $1,000 on 2/24/3 to Elgin’s Quality for CCSD 46
- $5,000 on 1/25/3 to District 300’s Citizens Organized for Responsible Education (CORE)
- $2,500 on 10/2/2 to Oswego Schools Referendum Campaign Cmte
- $10,000 on 3/22/2 to Bright Futures Cmte, the Fremont School District 79 political action committee
- $10,000 on 3/22/1 to Bright Futures Cmte
- $5,000.01 on 3/15/1 to Citizens for Classrooms Plainfield School Dist 202
