Pedro Castillo's Role in the 2005 Million Veteran March
You have to hear Pete talk about the 2005 Million Veteran March to Washington to capture the feeling.
He has told me that there were three men leading the veterans across the mall to the Capitol. These are not his exact words, but close
There were three of us, one deaf (Pete is hard of hearing), one blind and one who couldn’t talk (he had his voice box shot out). We were leading a band of Veterans across the mall.
When we got to the Capitol steps, someone asked us what we wanted to do now.
We told them we wanted to see (the congressmen who headed the Veterans committees).
One female lobbyist said, “No problem. I’ll give him a call.”
