Ken Arnold Press Release on Energy and Its Transportation

Here is 8th congressional district Republican candidate Ken Arnold's press release on his white papers on energy and its transportation:
Ken Arnold Proposes Two Major Energy Security Measures

Gurnee, IL: Republican congressional candidate in the 8th District, Ken Arnold, today unveiled two major initiatives to help in solving our current energy crises as well as aid in our overall national energy security, environment, and general economy.

The first detailed measure Mr. Arnold has developed he calls “The Energy Production Reservation Act (EPRA)”. This original and creative initiative calls for developing centers of energy and petrochemical production upon Native American reservations. As Candidate Ken Arnold exclaims: “Why should some of the highest paying jobs go to Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and others overseas? Why not help our fellow Americans – our Native American Indians - while helping us all!”

This initiative would provide high paying jobs to a group that clearly suffers from the highest rates of unemployment and alcoholism in all the country. As Mr. Arnold points out: “EPRA provides jobs to those greatest in need of employment -- while helping ensure energy and other needs for our entire economy. It’s a win/win for our Nation!”

EPRA reservations would be established by vote of the Indian Nation and would comprise such industries as refineries, nuclear and other power plants, petrochemical plants, and other related industries.

Candidate Arnold’s second initiative he unveiled is a related measure on energy development and security. But it is one that truly points out facts and perspectives citizens have likely never considered before. Mr. Arnold calls his second, original proposal “The Railroad Right of Way Act”. This measure well outlines a little know problem of the private taking of abandoned railroad rights of way throughout the United States. Mr. Arnold rightly points out that these right of ways were originally deeded by the Federal government and arguably should now revert to the original grantee. He well argues within this “white paper solution” that there are current and even future/unknown uses for these “public ribbons of opportunity” that crisscross our land and points to such badly needed applications as natural gas pipelines, electrical transmission lines, and fiber optic cable transmission as applications such abandoned right of ways should presently be put toward - before its too late and these links are lost forever.

Mr. Arnold’s major energy security reforms join ten other original and creative solutions to a breath of national problems which he has already posted on his website at www.ArnoldforCongress.com. Before the end of this Primary election season, he has promised “twenty-four and more” such innovations to be placed before the public.
