A Message from Attorney Jim Bishop on Appealing Real Estate Assessments

2011 Real Estate Taxes
September 2011
Dear Taxpayer,

NOW!!! is the time. Shortly, you will receive from your local township assessor a post card or letter advising you of your 2011 real estate tax assessment. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, in many cases the value of your property has been increased! In other cases, you will receive a 1 or 2% drop in value even though most properties have dropped 10-15% in the past year, and over 30% in the past 3 years.
For the past 44 years, my office has protested real estate taxes throughout Illinois, including all collar counties. We have worked with every type of commercial and residential property, as well as specialty properties. If you or someone you know are concerned as to whether the amount of taxes you are paying is fair, give me a call. I will need a copy of your 2010 real estate tax bill and your opinion as to the value of your property on January 1, 2011 to help you make a preliminary decision. If you or your bank has a recent appraisal of your property, send that along. My fees are contingent upon results, so you have nothing to lose. Tax savings can be significant and will last as long as you own the property.
Thanks for listening, I hope I can be of help to you. Give me a call with any questions.

Sincerely,

Jim Bishop
